Stop a form from saving itself when opened

I have a form with a large subform (subform is in form view) that saves
itself everytime it is opened. It takes approximately 20 seconds for the form
to save itself prior to it being visible. There is quite a bit of code both
in the form (about 30 pgs when copied onto word), subform and in called
functions in a function module. Is there any way to stop the form from saving
itself everytime it opens.
Thanks in Advance.
