doug, i am new to this board, but perhaps this will help, if you are not
sorted yet. You can use both systems. Access 97 can be reinstalled. There is
an issue with a font called hatten.ttf which Sean referred to.
If your database window is open, but you can't see anything then try window
unhide.
The file window you mention is asking you to select an existing dbs. These
will probably not load as they will not be access 97 format. There is an
other option new dbs, which will open a file save dialog and ask you to
create one. If you cancel all these option then you just get a blank dbs
window, which sounds like what you have, in which case file, new should let
you create a new dbs. Hope this helps
