    I did what you suggested some time ago....

    I created a user account (not the SA account) as a Windows
    Administrator. I created an MSDE account with the same name and
    password and made it a member of the SysAdmin role. The MSDE was set
    for Windows Athentication only. I then ran MS Access under that
    Windows user account. If failed as it always did.

    If you have any more idea, please let me know. I find my results hard
    to believe anyway.

    I don't understand why your tests worked except that you may have a
    domain controller or you have an newer version of MS Access (mine is
    2000 SP3). Please recall that using Osql and MSDE Plus, it WAS
    possible to create databases under the Windows Admin account in
    Windows Authentication mode. Only with MS Access did this fail until I
    changed to Mixed mode authentication.
