For your exclusive access message, is your database split?

I set up security in Access 2003 through a new workgroup following Keith Wilby's recommendations, as well as MS Access Security FAQs article..
After I set up my "employee" group for my standard users who are only allow to enter basic data through an input form and run some reports, I can't get some crosstab queries to work in a form that dynamically changes the crosstab query definition based on the criteria entered by the user. I get a message saying "You don't have the necessary permissions to use 'MSysTables' object. Have your system administrator to establish the appropiate permissions" Any ideas what type of permissions I need? I gave read/update/insert/delete permissions to those queries to that group.
Last ... I am also getting a message everytime these standard users open the database and the switchboard form comes up that tells them "You don't have exclusive access to the database at this time. If your proceed to make changes, you might not be able to save them." Is there anyway to get rid off it? My standard users don't need to be making design changes.
Thanks,
Lisbet
