Access 2007 supports user level security as long as the db file stays in the
same file format as previous versions for Jet, not the new file format for
ACE. The new ACE engine, which uses the accdb, accde, accdr and accdt file
extensions, doesn't support user level security.

I'm in the process of converting Access 2002 applications that use MDW files
to Access 2007, and I have a question.
1. I generally provide the user with a shortcut that contains the .mdw file,
which restricts which uses can access the app and edit or delete queries,
reports, etc. in Access 2002.
Apparently, Access 2007 does not support user level security anymore. Does
this mean I can no longer use mdw files and implement user level security by
login id ?
If not, how do I go about implementing user level security using Access 2007 ?
I did try to convert a db with mdw files into .accdb file. The app did
validate the users correctly, but it did not restrict users from deleteing
queiries, etc. I also noticed the missing user security menus.
