How to Open database exclusively

Hi,

Here's the setup:
I am working on an Access application split front-end/back-end. I'm
developing on forms in the front end on my local hard drive. I adopted this
app from a programmer who is long gone.
The company has two seperate networks. I am on one, but my users are on
another. I have access to the network upon which the live database resides
via a mapped network drive.

Everything works just fine, I can edit & do whatever I want with my dev copy
(which was created by copying the live version to my desktop.

Now the powers-that-be want me to work on a system similar to that of the
users so I can get at peripheral data (an AR company database) that I can not
access from the network I'm on.

So they give me a new machine, set it up with Access, everything looks
great.

The front-end uses a seperate workgroup file located on the mapped newtork
drive. Both machines are mapped identically to H:



Here's the problem:
I transfer the Dev front-ends over to my new system, try to edit them, but I
get ""You do not have exclusive access to the database at this time."

I'm the only user on my machine, of course.

If I copy the files back to the other machine, I can edit no problem. On the
shared drive, I can edit from the old but not from the new.

So this has to be a local permissions issue, right? I verified Windows
permissions for the files and all is well.

It's obvious to me that I should just do my editing on the old machine, but
that's not what they want, so I need to fix this, and I am clueless with
regards to workgoups, security etc.

I've searched Google for answers and none of them pertain to this problem.
There is no lb whatever file to delete.
