I have replicas that I want to move to another machine and am
uncertain how to do this. Here is my configuration. I have the
master and a full replica on machine A (the server). I have two
partial replicas that use indirect replication over the internet
each on machines B & C that replicate back to the full replica on
A. The replicas on B & C were created from the full replica on A.
This configuration has been in place for over a year and works
fine.
I want to move the master and the replica on machine A to another
machine (A2) that is not on my LAN. Can I use move replica on the
Replication Manager and move the master and full on machine A to a
CD and then place the CD in machine A2 and move to a new folder on
A2?
Yes, using the MoveReplica command in ReplMan is the way to do it,
but you can't do it with a CD -- you can only move to the final
location.
Remember: replication as designed for *connected* machines, even if
they weren't connected all the time. Machines that *can't* connect
should never use replication.
If you have a machine that can be moved from one LAN to the other,
then move the replica to that machine, then connect to the other
machine and move it from that machine to the new target machine.
Anything other than that, and you've got dead replicas all over the
place.

David,
Thanks much. Do I move both the master and the full replica?
