They do it because they don't want people to use Jet -- they want
them to buy SQL Server licenses.
And Jet replication in Access is basically dead in terms of future
development. Access 12 will support all legacy Jet functionality,
but will not add new functionality. And the new method for sharing
data with Access will require a Sharepoint server.
