    Further info re this mystery. When I noticed this problem, I had been
    called to the shop because the modem wasn't receiving calls. The PC
    couldn't even see the modem.

    On fixing the *modem* installation/setup, this problem with *ReplMan*
    not seeing its own dropbox mysteriously went away!

    Any suggestions as to what the connection between these 2 problems
    might be?
