microsoft access query

i am trying to make a query using 2 tables. one was a
table ive used before in other queries. the other table
is a new one that i just ran against a 3rd table with no
problems. but when i run the 1st table against the 2nd,
access tells me that it is unable to run the query in
data*** view & that it will open the query in design
view possibly because a user has a source table open in
exclusive mode. i tried rebooting, updating & running
everything from scratch with the exception of recreating
the data. i am beginning to suspect the data now. can
anyone give me any suggestions?
