Reverting to MDAC 2.6 from MDAC 2.7

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

XP Pro V5.1 Sp 1

If I download and install MDAC 2.6 from Microsoft site, will this
effectively overwrite my existing MDAC 2.7 Sp1 or is there a separate
uninstall/Cleanup program I should run to cleanout 2.7 before installing
2.6.

I need to do this for compatability reasons with a clients PC build, running
Access2000 MDE which I compile.
