There is no such thing as a system that can not be broken!

However, you are potentially liable to lawsuits for not
meeting contractual agreements. If anyone is paying for the
use of the database, they will be very upset if it stops
working just because you got sick or went on vacation and
could not remotely reactivate the program's timer. If this
program was developed as part of your employment, your
employer also has numerous legal rights to the program and
the data it contains. You really need to have a serious
discussion with your legal advisor before you are sued six
ways from Sunday.
