Repost (Sorry!!!)- What is Automation ID?

Sorry to repost but I posted a message yesterday and in one my replies I
said I had figured out the problem I meant to say I had figures it out.
I'm getting errors when I start to complete a control on a form that has a
has a format "ABCD"/000/0000;0;_ that says the Automation ID is not
available. What does this mean?

The control is on a main form and is used to link a number of subforms with
a control the same name. It is a next field, primary key but not autonumber.

Anyone help?
