Re: Voice Recognition

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I haven't tried it because I've been so pleased with Dragon Naturally
Speaking. It should be easy enough for you to try though. If it works well,
please post back to this thread and share your impressions.

Thanks for your reply. Instead of Dragon Naturally Speaking, have you ever
tried using the built in Voice Recognition software in Vista? Does it
work?
If so, I do not have to buy an additional product.

Dragon Naturally Speaking runs independently of any other program, so you
simply start it up after you've started Access, and click on the
microphone
to start talking, then click in the textbox where you want to write.

Can you be more specific about how to implement Dragon Naturally
Speaking
in
a form so it feeds an underlying table? I am really a novice at this.

I have done this using Dragon Naturally Speaking, in both XP and
Vista,
and
in several versions of Access. A good data entry person can easily
outpace
voice to text, but for most of us, once the system is "trained" it
will
add
the equivalent of about 60 to 80 wpm. Much faster when using presaved
macros
which can enter entire paragraphs pr more of text. I use mine with a
mouse
instead of tabbing, either verbally or with a keyboard.

Dragon Naturally Speaking works in every Office program.

I posted 6 days ago but got no response so I am trying again...

I have Vista and Office 2003.

I would like to dictate to a text box on an Access form or to Word
and
have
my dictation converted to text.

Has anyone used it? Does it work well? Is it faster than typing? Is
it
accurate after it has been trained? Can it be used in both Access
forms
and
Word? Which microphone is best?

Advice on ease of use and best methods of implementation would be
greatly
appreciated.

TIA

Guy
