Preserving format after import to excel, emailng, then transferSpread***

I have set up a system so that a person on one computer can export tables
(with numeric fields) using Output to Excel, email the Excel tables to
another person (using Outlook), who then imports them into Access with
TransferSpread***.

The problem is that, during this process, some of the fields are changed from
numeric to text.

How can this be remedied?
