Re: tables that are linked are not getting updated

Hi Rick,

I thought there'd be an issue with my explanation. (it's rather imperfect
but I was in a time bind)

I'd copied the back-end of the database seperately from the front-end.
Unknowingly, the front-end was still linked to the back-end in the original
location. I corrected this, updating the back-end links in the front-end in
the Link Manager. At this point, the "Second" database started working
correctly because the links in the "Original" database had been corrected.

Thanks for your concern, and your incite.

Sincerely,
Blenvid

Hi Rick,

Your explanation of my situation is the second part of your description,
except that I've checked the links with the "Linked Table Manager." They're
correct.

Hi, and thanks for looking at my question,

I have 2 databases, I'll call them the Original and the Second. The
Second database has a few linked tables from the Original database.
For some reason, when I update information in the Original table , it
doesn't update the info. in the linked Second table.

I know that you're able to copy tables, and that wasn't done here. I
created linked tables by going to File/Get External Data/Link Tables.
Also, I've verified the links are correct in the "Linked Table
Manager."

Does anyone know why my linked tables aren't getting updated?

Thanks so much.

If you mean you have the link open as a data*** and then make a change in
the other file then you will not see that change unless you close the
data*** for the link and reopen it. If you mean you don't see the change
even after doing that then the link is not pointing at the table you think
it is.
