Auto Importing & Exporting

We have an Access-based application that gets populated from our ERP
solution and read by shippers & customer service folks on a pretty much
continuous basis.
We are in the process of migrating from our old ERP solution to SAP. SAP
does not speak to Access directly.
We are told we'll need a small piece of middleware written to pull a
delimited file from Access in order to get that info into SAP and SAP can
push out a delimited file to be imported into Access.
So far, I follow the process, if not the specifics.
My question is - has anyone done anything like this so we're not completely
re-inventing the wheel here and will we run into problems importing &
exporting while users are browsing/viewing? (ok, so that is 2 questions -
but every time I think about this, I come up with more questions & no more
answers...)
Can anyone help? My gratitude in advance!
