Hi Kathy:
Man, this is a hard one. Here's the URL for the latest MDAC 2.8 download...
in case you eventually decide to reinstall it-
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6c050fe3-c795-4b7d-
b037-185d0506396c&DisplayLang=en
(Note: before reinstalling, you may wish to manually remove the "Microsoft
Data Access Components" in your currently installed programs.)
If you go to
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.access.developers.toolkitode
/browse_thread/thread/14e83028946cb9de/13f97c80d694927%2313f97c80d694927?sa=
X&oi=groupsr&start=0&num=3 , the guy there had exactly the same problem that
you had, and Tony Toews (MVP) got Rita Nikas (MS) to help and they had an
extensive give-and-take, and ended up discussing the MDAC problem. She
finished with "if I don't hear from you, I'll assume that you've fixed your
problem". They guy either died or had his problem fixed...
Question: does your program have any ActiveX programs? If so, delete them
then make another mde and reinstall it to see if you get this error. There
are several discussions concerning ActiveX programs attached to Access that
cause an "Interface not registered" error, which is the official meaning of
your error (see http://www.webf1.com/scriptdoc/AutomationErrors.htm ). You
may also wish to make sure that the ActiveX control is still installed on
your problematic computer. If not, check out
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;305528 . Problems
with references (or lack thereof) can occasionally cause errors... you may
wish to make a fresh "Northwind.mde"-like program to see if you can
replicate the problem, then slowly build up to your current program with all
its associated objects and dependencies.
Regards,
Al
