Interesting that I had this error occur today in Access 2003. My database is
somehow corrupt, I've been cleaning up the field types, and imported table
structures only okay. I went to import the tables again to run an update
query to transfer the data to my blank tables, but halfway through the
"import tables" process that error occurred. Both of my databases had a
"general" sort order so the Microsoft link did not help. One thing I did
notice, though, was that my old table had some oddly named indexes (names
that I most definitely would not have given them.) When I deleted these
indexes and tried re-importing the table, it worked fine...

It has taken me awhile to relocate this message. My exact message is
"selected collating sequence not supported by operating system".

The closest KB article I can see to that one is the following:
You receive a "Selected Collating Sequence Not Supported" error
message in Access 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/202150

Does that make any sense?
